Job Description Patient Access Representative A well-established
healthcare organization is seeking a Patient Access Representative
to join its growing team. This individual will serve as the first
point of contact for patients, ensuring a positive experience
through professional communication, accurate registration, and
efficient coordination of services. The ideal candidate has strong
administrative skills, a compassionate approach, and a commitment
to providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced
environment. Key Responsibilities Greet and assist patients in
person and over the phone with professionalism and empathy.
Accurately register and update patient demographic, insurance, and
billing information in the system. Verify insurance eligibility and
obtain required authorizations or referrals. Collect and post
patient payments, copays, and account balances as needed. Schedule,
reschedule, and confirm patient appointments in coordination with
clinical staff. Maintain compliance with HIPAA and organizational
policies regarding confidentiality and data security. Support front
desk operations, including managing patient flow and addressing
inquiries in a timely manner. Collaborate with billing, clinical,
and administrative teams to resolve patient or insurance issues.
Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required;
associate degree preferred. 1 year of experience in a healthcare,
medical office, or hospital registration setting preferred.
Knowledge of insurance verification and medical terminology a plus.
Strong communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and
Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to handle sensitive information and
maintain a calm, professional demeanor in stressful situations.
