EEO Employer M/F/Disabled/Vet Position Description: Under the direct supervision of a Nurse and/or Provider, the Paramedic is cross-trained in the role of Unit Secretary and Unit Assistant/Nurse Tech as well as duties/tasks within the organizations scope for the Paramedic. -Based on the needs of the department, responsibilities are a combination of providing direct patient care and technical assistance to the nurse and/or provider and performing a variety of computer, clerical, scheduling and supply functions necessary for the operation of the unit. The Paramedic must have excellent communication skills. -It is imperative that they are able to communicate effectively using tact and sensitivity. -He/she must be self-motivated and able to work and make decisions with limited supervision, keeping others appropriately informed. -It is important to have a strong knowledge of emergency procedures and be able to stay calm in stressful situations. -The Paramedic practices within the organizational/departmental policies and procedures Position Requirements: Education: - High School or GED required Experience: 1-3 years required Previous Healthcare experience required Knowledge, Skills: Ability to Multi Task and prioritize, Analytical, Medical Terminology, Organizational, and Verbal Communication skills required - License, Registration and/or Certification: Kansas (or national) Paramedic certification Upon Hire Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 90 Days Healthcare Provider CPR - (American Heart Association ONLY) Upon Hire Other: -MDI Training (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention) - ECC Department Only within 180 Days
