qualified Labor/Delivery RN in Kansas City, Missouri, 64154! Pay

Experience preferred - First-time travelers not accepted
Description: Registered Nurse specializing in Labor, Delivery,
Recovery, and Postpartum care. Work shifts are 3 nights from 7:00
PM to 7:00 AM. Nurse to patient ratios are 1:1 to 1:3. Holiday
shifts and Charge RN assignments are required as needed. Weekend
rotation includes 4-6 weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday) and 2
Fridays per 6-week schedule. The position requires 1 major holiday
(Thanksgiving or Christmas) and 1-2 minor holidays (New Year's Day,
Memorial Day, 4th of July, or Labor Day). Skills required include
IV therapy, phlebotomy, and labor and delivery management. Nurse
must be capable of performing amnioinfusion, assisting with vaginal
deliveries, circulating for C-sections, and managing
hemorrhage/shock cases. Recovery of C-sections and performing
sterile vaginal exams are required. Medication administration
includes antihypertensives, magnesium sulfate therapy, and Pitocin.
Experience in neonatal care in the delivery room is necessary.
Nurse must collect cord samples and perform infant identification
and metabolic screening. Antepartum care includes conducting NSTs,
reflex checks, and sterile vaginal exams. Postpartum care focuses
on breastfeeding support and wound assessment. Experience with
complications such as postpartum hemorrhage and pregnancy-induced
hypertension is necessary. Participation in surgical cases like
D&C and tubal ligation is required. Pain management skills must
include administering epidurals and using PCA (IV). Knowledge of
vaccination administration and isolation precautions is essential.
Fetal monitoring and response to abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
are required. Candidates should expect to float within the unit as
needed. On-call requirements include 2 mandatory shifts during each
6-week schedule period. This position encompasses full couplet care
and the potential for additional assignments within the labor and
delivery unit. Expectations include compliance with facility
protocols and the ability to manage low-risk deliveries
confidently. All candidates must have recent experience in
specialty areas to be eligible. Two references, including one from
a supervisor or charge RN, are required from the past year. Drug
screening will be conducted prior to employment. Modules are
required prior to start and may include additional training.
