Cardiac Device and Electrophysiology Nurse will work with
Electrophysiology providers, APRNS, RNs and other staff in managing
the care of patients implanted with pacemakers, ICDs and loop
recorders made by various manufacturers. This role will be
responsible for coordinating care for inpatients and outpatients
with cardiac arrhythmias and/or cardiac devices including
interrogation of pacemakers, ICDs and loop recorders on inpatients
and in clinic, reading remote transmissions sent by patients from
home, and answering device-related and electrophysiology
phone/nurse triage calls. Prior experience with device
reprogramming and reading remotes is requested. High degree of
autonomy needed and attention to detail is a must. Will work with
multiple web-based applications specific to each manufacturer as
well as our current EMR and device database. Critical care
registered nurses provide illness management and health promotion
for patients and families who require intensive care. Critical care
registered staff nurses utilize the nursing process and knowledge
of scientific principles to provide safe, high quality,
comprehensive, and age appropriate nursing care for their assigned
patients in the intensive care areas of the hospital. Critical care
registered staff nurses provide patient and family education and
advocate for their needs, while coordinating patient care with
nonprofessional personnel as necessary. At Children’s Mercy, we are

Responsibilities: Knowledge and Skills - Strong knowledge of
cardiology and electrophysiology. - Formal training and experience
in cardiac implantable electronic device interrogation and
management requested. - Excellent assessment, prioritization, and
critical thinking skills. - Must be able to communicate effectively
with patients, families, providers, and peers. Duties and
Responsibilities - Coordinates inpatient and outpatient device
evaluation / consults. This entails obtaining referring physician
information; patient device history; description of reason for
referral; and determination of the acuity of the consultation. -
Updates device clinic computer database (currently Paceart). This
involves entry of patient and device system information including
implant data, device ERT parameters, and generator / lead recalls
and alerts. - Assists and is a technical resource for process
management of device recalls and advisories. - Orders and assists
with coordination of EP patient admissions (changing meds,
arrhythmia issues, etc) - Assists with coordination of care between
service lines when needed (referring out to other specialties) -
Assists with EP provider clinics, assisting patient and family
education and instructions. - Relays tests results (holter, MRI,
EKG, Echo, etc) and necessary changes in care as requested by EP
MD's Qualifications: - Associate's Degree required and - Experience
conducting device interrogations preferred - Bachelor's Degree
preferred - One of the following: Licensed RN - MO, Registered
Nurse Multistate License Missouri required upon hire - One of the
following: Licensed RN - Kansas, Registered Nurse Multistate
License Kansas required upon hire - RN Compact license for all
states besides KS and MO - KS or MO multistate license required
within 90 days of hire - Refer to Nursing and Advanced Practice
Provider Licensure and Certification policy for required Life
Support Certifications required upon hire - Specialty Nursing
Certification encouraged for all eligible nurses - IBHRE-CCDS
