Job Description Job Description SUMMARY OF POSITION The
Pediatric Nurse Practitioner is to be a certified Pediatric Nurse
Practitioner with a Kansas medical license, who will provide
optimal pediatric care in a primary care medical home practice.
This position practices general pediatrics and participates in and
completes maintenance of certification program by an accredited
certifying organization in compliance with state and nursing board
regulations. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES Seeing patients aged 0-18 years
old. Obtaining a comprehensive health history. Performing physical
examinations. Formulating a plan of care and treatment. Prescribing
and performing diagnostic and therapeutic interventions. Managing
common acute and chronic illnesses. Documenting in electronic
health record (EHR). Participating in educating patient, family and
community in preventative health care and health maintenance
concepts. Providing holistic patient care through interdepartmental
collaboration via the care team model for example. Collaborating
with the Healthy Development Coordinator (HDC) team in assessing
development of children ages 0-5 years. Initiating any referral
orders recommended by the HDC. Helping to develop, implement and
further all specified care programs integrated with the pediatric
department. Providing the highest standards of practice for the
clinical area, practicing evidence-based care as guided by
up-to-date literature. Supporting the Clinic’s Continuous Process
Improvement (CPI) Quality program. Responsible for reviewing and
addressing quality metrics for patient care on the daily pre-visit
planning lists during clinic huddles with care team members;
monthly score cards and quarterly reports shared by members of the
Quality team. Has the opportunity to participate in the continuing
education of nursing staff, nurse practitioner students and other
learners. Participating in on call rotation and Saturday clinic

of the organization. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Evidence of completion from either an accredited Nurse Practitioner
Certificate program or Master’s Degree Nurse Practitioner program
which conforms to Board of Registered Nursing standards. Licensed
RN and Nurse Practitioner in Kansas. Certified as a Pediatric Nurse
Practitioner. 1-2 years experience as a Pediatric Nurse
Practitioner. Must have a strong passion for serving the
underserved and uninsured and demonstrate a willingness to adapt to
culturally diverse community. Current BLS certification. Individual
must: Develop rapport with patients and their families, community
and other healthcare personnel. Exhibit a professional and
respectful demeanor. Work successfully independently and within a
team, shifting tasks, prioritizing tasks and problem-solving daily.
Demonstrate excellent customer service, helpfulness, and a positive
attitude. Possess superior organizational skills with attention to
detail and the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
Demonstrate the ability to recognize, understand, and appreciate
the value of cultural diversity and communicate medical information
in plain language. Demonstrate social and cultural sensitivity
appropriate to ethnically and economically diverse patients and
staff. Exhibit experience and working knowledge of local community
resources. Hold current driver’s license and reliable
transportation. Travel to all parts of the facility and throughout
the community. PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Bilingual. Previous experience in FQHC setting. Ability to inspire
others to share their vision and support them to reach a common
goal. Ability to discuss strategic and sensitive issues. Ability to
work across all levels influencing patient and organization

investigations, TB testing, pre-employment drug testing, and
verification of Hepatitis-B, flu and COVID-19 immunizations.
