The Senior Analyst, Payroll position within the Payroll Support Team will bring extensive payroll knowledge, including Company Stock Programs, Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP), Non-Qualified Deferred Compensation (NQDC), Payroll Tax and Garnishments, and General Payroll Operations to perform a variety of project related work, technical support for HR Payroll systems and root cause analysis for payroll escalations and solution development. The Sr Analyst, Payroll will report to the Manager, Payroll, and provide subject matter expertise to the Payroll Services and Operations Team and partners to drive process design and improvements.

This position will support the Payroll Services and Operations Team and works in a highly collaborative team environment which is expected to drive a positive culture with teammates through support, coaching, and mentoring. The position partners with internal client groups as a representative of the Payroll Support Team, including but not limited to Legal, Accounting and Finance, Commissions, and HR Solutions, to drive solutions and provide consulting to ensure efficient process design.

Hybrid position based in Overland Park, KS.Job Responsibilities:

  • Represent HR Operations and Payroll team as a subject matter authority on company-wide projects and lead payroll tax specific projects from creation of timelines, facilitation of meetings, delegation of duties, lead to project plan, perform UAT testing, communicate timely to leaders on status, create test scripts and validate data.
  • Using data driven analytics to improve and/or develop processes within the tax team to ensure compliance and accuracy are met or increased. Research and analyze payroll information to identify trends, issues, and drive accuracy.
  • Through analytical audits of pay cycles, reconciliations and review of vendor invoice filings ensure tax filings are accurate and timely on a daily, monthly, quarterly or annual basis.
  • Oversee legislation and regulatory ruling impacting Payroll Operations.
  • Enforce adherence and advise management on required actions.
  • Level II quality control checkpoint of the full payroll production cycle.
  • Solve complex tax issues through quantitative and qualitative analysis in a team-based environment.
  • Use strong analytical and research skills with the ability to work independently, conduct research, formulate conclusions, and present recommendations regarding sophisticated business issues.
  • Drive standard methodologies and standardization, increase automation, develop reconciliation procedures, identify and implement needed improvements of payroll tax department processes, procedures and audits to improve operational effectiveness, increase accuracy and/or ensure legal compliance.
  • Provide stellar customer service to our employees, vendors, and partners.
  • Drive positive efforts to improve service level agreements (SLAs). Own escalations from customers, Employee Care, and Payroll Leadership.
  • Facilitate year-end and quarter-end payroll activities, including organizing meetings and deliverables with all team partners and tasks for the production team. Ensure tasks are completed accurately and on time.
  • Develop strong working relationships and proactively communicate to team, leadership, collaborators, partners, and customers to resolve any issues that might prevent timely processing or result in integrity issues.
  • Work in a fast-paced & high-pressure environment with precise accuracy while meeting deadlines.Education:
    • Bachelor's Degree (Required)Work Experience:
      • 6+ years of progressive payroll experience.Emphasis on Payroll tax. (Required)
      • Extensive payroll experience with a large payroll (30k+ multi-state). (Required)
      • Experience performing numerous functions of HR, Payroll, reporting applications, and system integrations. (Required)Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
        • Problem Solving: Ability to manage multiple tasks, workindependently, critical thinking, set priorities,problem-solve, and make decisions andfollow-through. (Required)
        • Project Management: Project or process management experience. (Required)
        • Communication: Strong written and verbal communicationskills; able to relay complex informationsuccinctly. (Required)
        • Advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge, including pivottables, v-lookups, and complex formulas;macros a plus. (Required)
        • Consultation: Proven ability to consult and interface with varying management levels and internal & external partners by leveraging expertise in subject matter and applying influencing skills. Conceptualize from the big picture down to detail level and generate innovative solutions. (Required)
        • Analytics: Ability to apply analytical reasoning in problem assessment and resolution so must be proficient with using root cause analysis concepts. (Required)
        • Data Analysis: Proven ability to analyze large volumes of data and make data-driven decisions and recommendations. (Required)
        • Demonstrated ability to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish organizational goals. (Required)
        • Strong knowledge of SOX controls and compliance. (Preferred)
        • Payroll Experience with payroll in the U.S. Territories. (Preferred)
        • Lean Six Sigma Experience with applying the Lean Sigma Principles. (Preferred)
        • ADP SmartCompliance (Preferred)
