Job Description Summary This position provides a high volume of excellent, efficient and professional assistance and customer service to the public in person, in writing and via the phone in a fast-paced office. Duties include, assisting customers with motor vehicle titles, registrations and driver's license renewals; problem-solving; handling/balancing a daily cash drawer; payment collection; and accurate maintenance of MV records. Responsibilities must be completed with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. This position performs a variety of accounting and clerical tasks. Works under general supervision with supervisor available for assistance Job Responsibilities Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following: Assist customers in person and over the telephone with questions relating to motor vehicle. Processes motor vehicle registration renewals by mail, in person and online. Prepares and issues motor vehicle titles, registrations, license plates, 60 day tags, inspection permits and disabled placards. Examines documents submitted by customers for motor vehicle titles and registrations. Determines authenticity, accuracy and completeness of documents provided for each transaction. Maintains detailed records accurately, securely and confidentially. Correctly determines fees; collects and makes record of fees. Process the imaging of title records by scanning documents daily during the title and registration process, renewals and various other MOVRS transactions. Collect payments over the counter, online and via mail and post collections to appropriate records. Ability to explain Motor Vehicle information to the public. Compose correspondence pertaining to motor vehicle transactions in a professional manner. Balancing and verifying money that is to be sent to the State of Kansas for motor vehicle, driver"s license and sales tax. Reviewing and approving other co-workers title transactions for accuracy and completeness of documents received. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Knowledge of: County and/or city government administration Mathematic, accounting and/or statistical principles Skill(s) in: Complex decision making and problem-solving Organization and time management Written communication Intermediate computer skills Strong data entry; ability to create and maintain Excel spreadsheets Balancing cash/cash drawer handling Ability to: Learn and apply procedures governing motor vehicle registrations and title transfers. Work with computers and related software. Skill in accurately entering and retrieving computer data with the ability to research and identify discrepancies Independently resolve and correct discrepancies by making changes and/or corrections to transaction/paperwork React with an appropriate sense of urgency, coupled with good judgment and discernment. Provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively in person and over the phone Research and analyze data; interpret directions, procedures and regulations; and develop appropriate responses to the public Manage multiple concurrent projects and meet deadlines Perform clerical work associated with the maintenance of motor vehicle records Maintain accurate motor vehicle records and process transactions with strong attention to detail Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with employees; communicate effectively under stress and project a positive attitude Learn, interpret and apply State and local laws and regulations pertaining to motor vehicle Multitask in a fast-paced office Ability to effectively and accurately meet multiple deadlines Maintain confidential information in accordance with legal standards and/or County regulations. Experience: A minimum of two years clerical experience, government experience preferred. Education: High School Diploma or GED Licenses/Certifications: Valid Kansas Driver's License Physical Requirements Physical Demands: Performs sedentary work, sitting at a desk for prolonged periods. May stand for extended periods during presentations. Lifts 50 pounds maximum and occasionally handles office equipment and materials. Stoops and bends when using files. Good physical health required. Visual, Hearing and Dexterity Demands: Requires concentrated visual attention which must be maintained for sustained periods. Good vision and hearing acuity is required. Good eye and hand coordination is required. Must possess good dexterity to operate appropriate equipment. Working Conditions: Works in clean, well lit, heated and ventilated office.
