Position Purpose/SummaryAccurate and safe construction of Fastwyre's network to our standards is vital to our success. Fastwyre's OSP Field Supervisor is on the frontline. They are the boots-on-the-ground for Fastwyre. The OSP Field Supervisor ensures construction is built safely and to the required standards and specifications. We realize our future customers come from those neighborhoods where we are doing construction. It is therefore important for the OSP Field Supervisor to respond quickly to neighborhood complaints and actively work to resolve the issues. An OSP Field Supervisor will find themselves in many various roles throughout a typical day. They need to have skills, experience and behavioral traits that are necessary for their role as an inspector, an investigator, a leader, and manager of aerial and or underground construction crews, an ambassador on behalf of Fastwyre to resolve complaints within the community, and other various roles.Primary Duties & ResponsibilitiesMaintain understanding of our specifications, standard practices, and safetyConduct walkouts and inspects aerial fiber cable placement on poles and splice points as well as theunderground placement of conduit, cable placement, pedestals and handholes for quality and correct installation as per Fastwyre's technical specifications and/or construction specifications.Ability to use appropriate computer programs (including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite) which includes having proficient computer skills and the ability to adapt and learn as programs and processes change.Approve all unitized completed OSP construction work done to Fastwyre's standards.Manage/update the OSP construction production tracker.Monitor the approved budget, review invoices, submit labor/material requisitions, and review change order requests for each of their assigned project numbers.Identify project material needs and quantities.Identify and submit the required project permits.Respond to utility strikes, conduct investigation, completes documentation of said strike within 24 hours.Conducts retraining of the contractor or terminates them if necessary for unsafe construction practices.Conduct a weekly audit for each contractor of their safety, construction, and quality practices.Identify contractor training needs and arrange for the contractor to get the training.Ensure all contractors have a weekly safety and communications tailgate meeting with their employees and will assist the contractor in scheduling periodic damage prevention tailgates safety meetings in the language which the employees are most fluent.Performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.Resolve disputes and issues related to vendor performance and contract fulfillment to ensure project success. Knowledge, Abilities, & Skills for SuccessMust be detailed oriented and excellent organizational skillsRelated quality control and/or outside aerial and underground plant construction experienceAbility to work independently with minimal supervision in a deadline-driven environment.Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagramform.Works well under pressureAbility walking long distances, and potentially uneven and/or less than ideal ground conditions each day withcontractorsCapable of working in all temperatures, climate and weather conditions maintaining safe work zone practices.Must have excellent communications and diplomacy skills.Committed to and driven by quality and safety.Ability to distinguish between general audience information and confidential information and to maintainconfidentiality always.Ability to manage multiple tasks at the same time and recognize which tasks are more urgent or require moreattentionMust have and maintain a valid driver license and a clean driving record (no DUIs or serious traffic violations).Ability to work a flexible work schedule, as needed, to best serve our customers.QualificationsA High School Diploma or general education degree (GED); or three (3) to five (5) years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Strong understanding of OSP construction methods, materials, and regulations.Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with attention to detail and a focus on quality.Strong analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
